Bhavna Records and Cassettes Company started its journey on May 4, 1999. The foundation of company was laid by the then Governor of West Bengal, Shri M. A. Kidwai at Rabindra Sadan, Kolkata , on the occasion of Rabindranath Tagore’s 139 th birthday.
Bhavna has emerged as a pioneer music destination for all music lovers with the vision of the Company’s Director Shri Biswa Roy.
Bhavna mainly concentrates on recording and disseminating Tagore songs and poems (recitations). The company has released various albums by all eminent singers and presenters of Tagore’s creations. Beside this Bhavna is proud to be associated with renowned personalities areas like Sunil Gangopadhyay, Rupa Ganguly, Pabitra Sarkar to name a few who have enriched Bhavna’s creations with songs recorded by them.
So far about 400 titles comprising CDs and VCDs have been released the Company, majority of which are Tagore songs and poems. Bengal’s remarkable traditions like Agamani songs by Ramkumar Chattopadhyay, are also present in the bouquet. Late Sanskrit scholar and singer, Govinda Gopal Mukhopadhyay has also recorded the full texts of Gita and Chandi for Bhavna. CDs with songs of Atulprasad Sen, Dwijendralal Roy and Rajanikanta Sen have also been released.
Most eminent poets of Bengal have recited their favourite poems in their own voice. Some of these big names include Nirendranath Chakraborty, Sunil Gangopadhyay, Alokeranjan Dasgupta and Taslima Nasreen.
Bhavna also promotes young artistes who show considerable promise like Pijuskanti Sarkar, Manoj, Manisha, Sasha etc.
